Exchange 2007 Server Spam

$

Hi everyone,

So I am experiencing some issues with my server, running Exchange 2007. What has happened is that we have had a large volume of spam coming in lately, so using the Exchange 2007 anti-spam tools I have been refining actions for SCL's and such. The problem I have now encountered however, is that every e-mail now being sent from a mailbox within the server is being marked as spam. For instance I have tried sending a test message from my company e-mail, to both my personal gmail and hotmail and both mark the sender as spam, for myself and every other mailbox on the server. I haven't touched anything outside of the anti-spam rules and hub transport rules, and this was not a problem prior so I'm not sure what to do. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Please keep it simple as I am rather new to this and step by step instructions on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Rhys

2010 Mail flow overview / flowchart

Hello,

The URL

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997242%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx

gives me a very clear overview of how (incoming) e-mail flows through the Exchange server.

On the top the Exchange delivery, on the bottom the deliver to the mailbox. However this flowchart is not complete as I don't see there the hub transport rules hook in. Also the Outlook server rules are not clear from this flowchart.

Is there somewhere a more complete overview ??

Thanks.

Hi All,

My accepted domain: accepteddomain.com

Everything has been working fine, until I deleted the first Email policy, then the second email policy kicked in, soon after that I recreated the first email policy, everything seems to be back to normal, except everyone from accepteddomain.com cannot send email to external (hotmail, gmail, etc) anymore, they can receive from external fine.

I ran telnet and I got the following

rcpt to: myname@hotmail.com

550 5.7.1 Unable to relay.

I double checked the receive connectors which seems to be fine.

I am running out of ideas,

Any help/advice would be appreicated

Is it possible to retrieve message body of previously sent Out of Office?

Hi,

I’m looking to recover a previously sent mail from which I have to retrieve the contents of the body. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem since the mail could be retrieved from the sent items of the particular mailbox or from backup.

However, this mail is a autoreply sent by Out of Office. I’ve found that the mail is actually sent out since it is represented in the message logs. Unfortunately, message logs don’t display the body contents.

How can I retrieve the contents of the said out of office autoreply?

Exchange version is Exchange 2010 SP3

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

how can I set the exchange 2007 in order to allow an unauthenticated source (another computer connecting with smtp port 25 with not registered email) to send an email at an address not in the organization?

For example the sender aaa@bbb.com wants send an email to ddd@sub.eee.lan where the local domain is eee.lan (exchange server is zzz.eee.lan)

Thanks

SmartScreen Spam Filter in Outlook

I am having difficulty getting the SmartScreen spam filter in Outlook to stop seeing emails from a certain site and sender as spam.  I have repeatedly marked them as safe and created several different rules that cover sender, subject and even key words that should send them to my inbox but nothing seems to work.  These are important emails and I rely on being notified when they arrive but, since they get sent to my junk mail folder I don't get the notification.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Retrieve Messages Failed to Send

Hello all,

I have a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.  Last Sunday, this was upgraded from SP2 to SP3.  Since then, we have had some important external emails go missing.  We have resolved any new emails received by this email by adding the "BypassedSenders" list, but we still do not have any of the emails sent during this week.

In the SMTP Receive logs, I keep seeing the following message:

250 2.6.0 <[HIDDEN]> Queued mail for delivery

In the "Tracking Log Explorer", the results are as follows:

  • EventId: FAIL
  • Source: SMTP
  • SourceContext: Content Filter Agent
  • RecipientStatus: 250 2.6.0 <[HIDDEN]> Queued mail for delivery

We have checked the "Messages" in the "Queue Filter", but am unable to see any messages from the user that was sent.

Is it possible to retrieve the messages that failed to send during this time?

Exchange 2010 existing Send Connector using an unlisted Hub as source - after this Hub was added to the org

Exchange 2010 existing Send Connector using an unlisted Hub as source - after this Hub was added to the org.

Originally, I had one Exchange 2010 Hub (HUB-A) which had a Send Connector "Outbound to XYZ" to send to a specific SMTP host for specific domains. The source server was himself. Mail was flowing.

I installed a second Hub transport (HUB-B), and now as soon as it is online, the SMTP mail intended to pass through the previously mentioned connector tries to pass by this new Hub. It creates a Queue named "SMTP Relay in Active Directory Site" with an error 451 5.7.3.

HUB-B is NOT listed as a Source server (only HUB-A).

Has anyone experienced this kind of behavior ?

Thanks in advance !

Decommissioning Edge Server

Can you setup a receive connector that bypasses the edge subscription service?

We have recently started using a AV/Spam filtering service making it so that the Edge servers are no longer needed.  When I tried changing the inbound email to bypass the edge servers.  I setup a a internet receive connector however it is rejecting the the messages due to -- 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated.  I'm wondering if keeping the edge subscription(in case of failback) is causing the authentication issue.

urcompany was having issues sending emails to certain domains. Everything was fine except for a few of these problematic domains. These emails were just sitting in my Exchange edge server's outbound queue...The error message I was getting in the Exchange 2010 queue was this:"451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternates."

I make some teste using  telnet and  I can send test mails

Stop Spoofing own domain but allow exception

Hello, I have configured our Exchange (2010 SP3) to not accept emails pretending to come from own accepted domains. I did this by removing AD Permission "ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender".

Now I'd like to add kind of an excepetion, if emails come fro a certain server/ip. The reason why is that our website is hosted externally and it sends some forms via email from like info@company.com to internal exchange users. Now these emails are not accepted anymore due to the above modification.

Is there any chance to add some mail server as trusted, etc?

kind regards,

Outlook JunkMail Issue

$

Emails are randomly getting moved to junkmail folder.

I have two GPO

1. Change JunMail Options to "No Automatic Filtering.  Mail from blocked senders is still moved to the Junk -Mail Folder"

2. Append to Safe Sender List, list location, and Trigger JunkMail option

However, after applying, this is only happening to my Outlook and no one else's.  My Blocked Senders is empty, None of my Rules move emails to junkmail folder.

I see the popup "............The Outlook Junk Email filter marked this message as spam.............."

Does the Trigger JunkMail option that is required for appending Safe Sender List re-enables JunkMail filter?

IIS SMTP - The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay for outgoing address, Still not working

I'm unable to fix this issue by following steps:

  1. Go to Administrative Tools -> IIS 6.0 Manager
  2. Right click "SMTP Virtual Server" then Click Properties
  3. Select Access tab
  4. Click "Relay..." in Relay Restrictions
  5. Select "Only the list below"
  6. Add 127.0.0.1 and my server IP to the list
  7. Check Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above
  8. Click "OK"

I would really appreciate if anyone can give me any other idea. I tried above steps but I could not solve the problem.

Thank You!

Best Regards,

Sandeep
